We have the perfect pairing

Pairing Tapas, with a strong A Coruña accent, with the wines of the Designations of Origin of Galicia we offer a little of our landscape, of our territory, of our climate... of our essence.

Located in the south of the province of Ourense, the Monterrei Designation of Origin welcomes us with a temperate Mediterranean microclimate with a continental tendency, hot summers and cold winters. A territory crossed by the river Támega, a tributary of the Duero, which finds in its two sub-zones, valley and hillside, a wide range of soils: slate and schist, granitic and sandy, clay and sedimentary.

Wines and grapes of Monterrei D.O.

The white wines are made from the preferred white varieties: Godello, Treixadura and Dona Blanca; and the authorised varieties: Blanca de Monterrei, Loureira, Albariño and Caíño Blanco.

The Red Wines are made with the preferred red grapes: Mencía and Merenzao, and the authorised varieties: Araúxa, Sousón and Caíño Tinto. Wines D.O. Monterrei: elaborated with a minimum of 60% of preferential varieties, and whose typology is divided into young or barrel, among others.

There is a wide variety on offer so that cooks can propose their particular creations. Enjoy, always in moderation!


On Monday, October 25th, Cervezas 1906/ Estrella Galicia organizes a meeting with all the participating establishments of the XVII Picadillo Tapas Competition. 

The day starts with a private visit to MEGA, followed by a specific training in small format gastronomy, by chef Manuel Costiña (Retiro da Costiña-Michelin Star) and in pairing techniques taught by the Department of Beer Culture of Hijos de Rivera.

Information for coeliacs

One of the most difficult experiences for a coeliac may be eating out. To deal with this situation, the Association of Celiacs of Galicia (ACEGA) tries to give advice to as many restaurants as possible, as in the case of Tapas Picadillo. Each of the tapas suitable for celiacs that are submitted to the competition are reviewed and checked.
